Program: Basic SKILLZ (5 and 6 yrs.)
Skill: Coordination
Drill: Blindfold challenge
Equipment needed: One blindfold per line
Instructors needed: One per line
Description: The students will build their coordination skills by performing left and right combinations while blindfolded. This will help the students focus even more without using visual skills to remember their left and right.
Steps:
- Divide your students into lines.
- For each line you will need a blindfold.
- Explain the rules:
- Place the blindfold on.
- I will call out left or right punch.
- You will punch with the proper hand.
- You must perform five left and right commands in a row correct.
- If you perform five left and right commands in a row correct, then I will do 10 jumping jacks.
- Continue until every student has two turns.
- On the second turn you can add two and three punch combinations.
- You can add variety by using kicks or blocks.

Drill: Kickboxing challenge
Equipment needed: Two focus mitts per line
Instructors needed: One per line
Description: The students will develop their coordination skills by hitting the proper mitt with the proper technique. In this drill the students will learn when to thrown a straight punch, hook, or upper cut.
Steps:
- Divide your students into lines.
- For each line you will need an instructor to hold two focus mitts.
- Explain the rules:
- When I hold up my mitt straight up, you will punch the mitt with a straight punch.
- When I hold my mitt to the side, you will punch the mitt with a hook punch.
- When I hold my mitt upside down, you will punch the mitt with an uppercut.
- Make sure you are punching the mitt with the proper hand. For example, if I hold my left mitt up, you will punch with your left hand.
- Your goal is to punch the mitt with the proper punch and with the proper hand 10 times in a row.
- Continue until every student has three turns.
- On the second turn, have them say the hand and punch as they punch the mitt. For example: “left hook punch!”

Program: Basic SKILLZ (5 and 6 yrs.)

Drill: Number relay
Equipment needed: One kicking pad per line
Instructors needed: One per line
Description: The students will develop their coordination skills by racing down the mat and kicking the pad with the proper foot.
Steps:
- Divide your students into lines on one end of the mat.
- For each line you will need an instructor holding a kicking target on the opposite end of the mat.
- Explain the rules:
- I will call out either left kick or right kick and you will race to the instructor and kick with the proper foot.
- The first person to kick the pad with the proper foot gets a point for their line.
- If you kick with the wrong foot, then you have to do 5 jumping jacks.
- Continue until every student has a turn.
- The line with the most points is the winner
- On the second round, call out combinations.
