Program: Extreme SKILLZ (10 to 14 yrs.)
Skill: Vision
Drill: Word over, definition under
Equipment needed: Two hurdles per line
Instructors needed: Several to monitor

Description: The students will work on memorizing their vision word and definition with a fun obstacle course challenge. They will say the word as they jump over the hurdles, and then the definition as they crawl back

Steps:

  1. Divide your students into teams.
  2.  For each line you will need two hurdles.
  3. Explain the rules:
    • When I say “go” you will jump over the hurdle while you say the vision word for your belt and then crawl under the hurdles while saying the definition.
    • You will do this for three reps.
    • The first person finished wins a point for their team.
    • The team with the most points at the end of the drill is the winner.
  4. Continue for at least three rounds.
  5. You can make it challenging by spacing the hurdles further apart on each round.

*If you do not have vision words for each belt, then you can use character words and give them definitions, which will help them learn character lessons.

Program: Extreme SKILLZ (10 to 14 yrs.)
Skill: Vision
Drill: Pad-fly challenge
Equipment needed: One small pad per line
Instructors needed: One per line

Description: The students will play a fun vision game by getting the first shot to answer the quiz question if they kick the pad the furthest.

Steps:

  1. Divide you students into teams and have them line up on one end of the mat.
  2. For each team you will need an instructor to hold a small square target.
  3. Explain the rules:
    • I will quiz you on the vision words and their meaning.
    • To get the first shot to answer the question, you must kick the target further than your opponents.
    • If you answer correctly then you get a point for your team.
    • If you answer incorrectly then your opponent gets a chance to answer the question.
    • The team with the most points at the end of the drill is the winner.
  4. Continue for at least three rounds.
  5. You can make it fun by making the kick something hard, such as jump-spin-hook kick.

*If you do not have vision words for each belt, then you can quiz them on various character lessons.

Program: Extreme SKILLZ (10 to 14 yrs.)
Skill: Vision
Drill: Vision twister
Equipment needed: Eight rings per group
Instructors needed: One per group

Description: The students will play a fun game of twister by matching vision words with the proper color ring.

Steps:

  1. Have your student’s pair up with a partner and then divide the partners into groups.
  2. For each group you will need 8 colored rings or circles. If you do not have colored rings, you can create rings on the deck with colored electrical tape.
  3. Explain the rules:
    • I will call out a specific body part and a vision word. You must match the body part to the proper ring.
    • For example:
      • Place your left hand in the control (purple) ring.
    • If you fall then you are out and your partner is the winner.
  4. Continue for two rounds.
  5. You can make it fun by seeing how many commands that can do together as a team without falling.

*If you do not have vision words for each belt, then you will have to create a word to match each color ring, which means that they will have to have good memory.
